Why Faith is Meant to Move You Forward

Jesus walks on water across the sea towards a boat during a storm.

Have you ever felt stuck—like you’re standing on the edge of something great, but fear keeps you from stepping forward? Maybe it’s a career move, a relationship decision, or a calling you feel deep inside. But instead of stepping forward, doubt whispers, What if I fail?

Faith was never meant to keep us comfortable; it was meant to move us.

Peter found himself in that same moment of hesitation. The storm raged around him, the boat rocked violently, and Jesus stood on the water—inviting him out. In that split second, Peter had a choice: stay in the safety of the boat or trust Jesus enough to step into the unknown. With one foot over the edge, Peter chose faith.

"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus." — Matthew 14:29

That first step wasn’t just about walking on water. It was about trusting Jesus beyond what made sense. Fear tells us to stay put, but faith calls us forward.

Maybe your step isn’t as dramatic as walking on water, but it matters just as much. Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does. What’s one step of faith you can take today? Drop it in the comments!
